Just started watching Greek on Hulu.com. Since it is an ABC Family Channel show, I totally would have missed it, had it not been on the internet.

It kind of sucked me in...I'm a sucker for these kind of shows.

I thought it was funny that Jessica Rose (lonelygirl15) was in the show too...especially since I helped out her as an actress last year...

Anyway...it's a fun show and I'm hooked...

Michael Rady from Sisterhood is also on the show as a regular character, but he doesn't show up until Season 2

I took a look at the pilot episode and got half way through it because I started it too late at night for an old working guy. I'm not hooked on it, though. It's quite cliched, although it has no pretense for being anything else so that's okay. The younger brother Rusty makes the best first impression and reminds me of the naive pledge, Larry Kroger, in Animal House. Unlike Veronica Mars that had an edge as well as mysterious activities at the core, this show didn't present anything really interesting in the first 30 minutes to keep my attention. The interpersonal conflicts it tried to set up were pretty pedestrian. I may give it another shot, though. It usually takes me a few episodes of any new show to win me over.

I think all your criticisms are valid and accurate. The show reminds my of many teen romance comedies from the 80s. It is silly, and a bit cliché, but that doesn't automatically turn me off...if it is done right.

One thing that helps is the fact that the characters are not as "one dimensional" as they first appear. There is some obvious foreshadowing of this with comments like, "I'm not just her sidekick" or "I'm not just the girl that is her enemy for no other reason than it being the role I'm pegged to play"...but it can take a while for those story lines to be flushed out.

I also like the fact that unlike other shows currently in this genre (Gossip Girl comes to mind) there isn't so much teen angst...and the characters aren't taking themselves so seriously.

I've always been a sucker for "coming of age" stories...so even rather pedestrian interpersonal conflicts can keep me just as interested as life and death conflicts. BTW...I loved the first season of Veronica Mars... great show...at least for the first season.

There is an aweful lot of Sisterhood of the Traveling pants references in this show, including an episode where one of the characters dresses up as Amber, and the other as America. (2-18 "Sisterhood of the ZBZ")

Episode 2-20 has several references to JOA, including a Season 1 and 2 DVD set for JoA that the main character gives to his sister talking about what a great show it is.

I get the Sisterhood references, being that one of the supporting actors on the show was in Sisterhood...but the JOA references? I wonder if there is any connection...

Then again...they next episode had references to Ghost Whisperer...just a CBS connection perhaps?

I was thinking some of the writers or producers might be the same...They tend to drop lots of Easter eggs.

Like toward the beginning of the show...I couldn't figure out why they were talking about watching "Fraizer" is if that is a good thing...I just thought it was way out of character.

Later I realized that the main actress on the show, Spencer Grammer is actually Kelsey Grammer's daughter...so the reference all clicked together...

Me too. Twenty years ago it was The Wonder Years. Kristen Bell played Veronica just right and the supporting characters were more than plot devices. Agreed -- once the mystery was solved it kind of lost its way.

Insider jokes and shoutouts are fun both for the writers and savvy audiences.

hmm...it is "abc Family" ...no CBS connection like I originally thought.

Yeah...Wonder Years... one of the greatest shows ever!

This season is somewhat of a downer...lots of recycled plot devices. Still tons of JOA references...not sure what the connection is... must be a producer or something.
