Discussion Is Desirable, profanity and vulgarity unnecessary

We consider that the forums at AmTam are open to adults. We've had very intelligent adult conversation on topics such as abortion, politics, the war. Our concern is that the conversations be conducted with respect for all parties involved and in language that's appropriate also to the young adult demographic that frequents AmTam.

Why not allow profanity if alot of young adults talk like that? Because, we believe that intelligent conversations can be conducted, points made and understood without vulgarity or boorish language; because we have folks from all over the world (quite literally) visiting here, from pretty much every nation and every age demographic. Frankly, profane language can make folks feel uncomfortable and vulgar conversation can turn folks off.

Does that mean you can't discuss drugs in this forum and their effects? Not at all; we think folks would benefit from an intelligent conversation that discusses pros/cons, consequences, accountability, choices and free will in regards to drugs or alcohol - it would and could be a learning experience for a lot of us, with many points of view given and heard.

We've always been very open to different viewpoints here at Amtam without someone fearing they'd be out of line. As long as a belief is offered in good spirit - without proselyting or trashing someone else's beliefs - in respect; I think it's ok for that to be expressed.

You're more than welcome to express your differing viewpoints here. We like the idea that discussion of different facets of life are generated by Amber's TV shows and movies - it tells us that folks are thinking about it, thinking about life outside of the box - it's engendering opinion, intelligent conversation and showing us different opinions and beliefs, which can only bring more understanding to the way all of us think - understanding is bringing us close to resolving conflicts - and it makes very good discussion.

So, in a nutshell, you can discuss pretty much anything here within our guidelines. The guidelines are here to protect everyone's enjoyment of Amber, her work and her website - which is our primary priority here.
