How did I never get around to starting a "V" thread? (IMG:style_emoticons/amtamicons/huh.gif)

I thought I started one...I remember Brad commenting on it....am I going crazy?

Anyway....I've been really excited about this show coming out...been counting down the days. I was starting to think that my expectations might be getting too high...especially after catching a sneak peek of the first few minutes of the show last week...which are the same few minutes I've seen in just about every sci-fi/disaster film ever made. The blatant reference to "Independence Day" certainly didn't help either.

So I finally got to see it, and I LOVED the first episode. It certainly isn't Battlestar Galactica...and I agree with some of the critical comments about revealing too much too soon..but I still think there is quite a bit that can be done with this show and I am looking forward to more!!!

It looks like the show did awesome in the overnight ratings, and the critical reviews tend toward the positive side...so here's hoping that ABC keeps this one!

I'll have to catch it online. It seems to have potential if it can generate the mystery and suspense of the X-files and the characters of Lost without copying them too closely.

I was disappointed that it won't be available on ABC or Hulu until Sat.

WHAT'S UP WITH THAT!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/amtamicons/censored.gif)

i recorded all the old V stuff from sun-tue on sciffy and i'm still trying to get through it all. i'll probably get to see the first new ep sometime next thursday.

as i was watching the mini's i remember the part where john got his face ripped off and exposed on live tv before it happened. so i guess i saw at least one of them years ago.

@shon: i remember you posting something about V before, but i don't think it was a seperate thread, just a mention or article about it being in production again. but it was a while ago so i could be wrong. who knows?

I wouldn't mind catching the old episodes...I just never seem to get around to it. You don't have to watch the old though, in order to start watching the new... Like Battlestar Galactica...it is a "re-imaging" of the original series, which basically means they will take the basic plot from the original, and that is about it.

I wouldn't be surprised though, if they threw in some easter-eggs for fans of the original.

The pilot was pretty good but nothing special. A lot of what is going on seems just to be a rehash of the old series. If it goes in a new direction, then I'll stick around but if it just tells the same story I already saw the first time around then what's the point?

btw, isn't Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund?) in the original or is my memory failing me?

Yes, Robert Englund was in the original as Willie, one of the aliens. He helps deliver the star child.

I hear there was a buzz on the internet about the lady playing Diana, the head alien. Though I was sad to see that Morena Baccarin of Firefly fame cut her hair so short!

I might not get to see this series until it comes out on DVD.

Just got through watching the episode on the computer. I liked it. And I see they changed the leader's name to Anna. I wonder how many stories Morena and Alan got to tell about their Firefly days?

Finally watched the first ep of V and it set up future plot lines pretty well even if it was all rather obvious. If they can develop some suspense it might hang on.

Too bad the partner was a lizard. It looked liked he and agent Evans had some chemistry.

I liked the third episode. I think it is too bad that we will have to wait until March to see episode 5.

There's a lot of spoilery things I would like to talk about...but I think I will wait for a while.

IF they have an episode 5. i saw an interview with the blonde girl and she said they still have to wait to find out the ratings to see if they will continue. but that was over a week ago, so i'm sure they know by now.

On "Sci-Fi Wire" I saw a story called " V Death Watch" They reported that rating for the third episode dropped another 18% (10 million viewers) and predicted a quick death for the show. Even as they are predicting this however, V was NUMBER ONE in it's time slot...and continues to rank number 1 in the 18-30 year old bracket...which is the most coveted age bracket.

It certainly COULD be canceled...ABC isn't known for standing behind their shows...and I certainly think this scheme to only have 4 episodes on the front end, is an example of how much faith they have in the series. There are many MANY people, that don't enjoy getting tied up in a show...only to watch it be canceled.

ABC = Already Been Canceled so much of the time. Often deserved, however. Not sure about V.
