Hey everyone-
First of all, thanks to all yall who supported THE DRUMS INSIDE YOUR CHEST VOL. 3 this year. We had a sold out show that was probably the best so far. I am getting my wisdom teeth pulled on Monday and will be writing each and every one of you a drugged out thank you card. In my mind. Onward... Thanks for your patience on all things Tour Dates. I've received a TON of messages from people wanting to know when this dang thing was happening- "Will you be coming to Florida?!" "Will you sign my little brother's earlobe?!" and, "Why won't Cheetos come out with a sour cream and onion flavor?!" The answers are yes, yes and I made the last one up. But hopefully yes, if they know what's good for them. Onto the book... (IMG:http://www.amtam.com/images/stories/BOOK%20COVER2.jpg) "Bang Ditto" has been a 4 year process of putting together the most intimate and honest work I've ever written. It's a collection of poetry and prose chronicling my observations of a life spent in the Hollywood business and how that's effected everything within me and everyone around me. From bad breakups to my most earnest and deeply scavenged feelings on family. From an inscription I wrote in my first poetry book given to one of the Coen Brothers, to drunkenly wandering into the Scientology building for.... well, you'll see. I guess this book was really an experiment for me; a risk worth taking in exposing myself wholeheartedly on a page so as to grow and let others know how I grow. Yo. To try and untangle the knots I've helped tighten. To try and see people for exactly who they are- good or bad. More pragmatism and humility. Less romanticizing. Less taking things so seriously. More whiskey. More or less, this is a book- and a genuine point of view- I'm very proud to share with you. Here are two excerpts from two poems in Bang Ditto... ::::::::::::::::::: From the poem STRANGE: "Los Angeles has that Pluto-sized hotel room on Beverly and the street with your middle name. This is where you first handed me your music in a Walkman, flicked off my light-switch eyes and we camped out in each other’s hair. You fogged the letters of a question on the back of my neck with your breath. Your knuckles rustled through waste bins of my waist’s skin till you found the thing that had been ticking. Pumping like a trout’s mouth or the bellybutton of an Olympian..." From the poem ROLE RESEARCH: "1. “Jumpers” he calls them, pushing a picture under my dried tabloid-puke eyes. The homicide detective at New York’s 19th precinct sits across from me, the mascara maven. Role research. He has no eyelids left, just crumpled Polaroids. Murders, suicides, robberies, kidnapping: seen one 36-year-old Caucasian male impaled on a pole after plummeting the length of New Jersey, seen ’em all..." :::::::::::::::::::: And now... Tour dates!! Shitzies, I almost forgot to write that the movie I did with MIchael Douglas, "Beyond A Reasonable Doubt" will be out September 11th!!!! I'll be doing duel publicity for both. Also: This is not the finalized list of places I'll be touring- Universities will probably be in December/January and there are a bunch of other shows still being confirmed for Arizona, Alaska, New Mexico, Colorado, Chicago, Boston and Oklahoma. I just wanted to get these out there now. I'll keep updating this page with new shows as they come in. If you have any suggestions of places you'd like to see me read, shoot us a message and we'll see what can be done- my operators are standing by. I'm new to this whole tour thing and open to all ideas and requests. Except for birthday parties. I don't do birthday parties. Or celebrity funerals. love three times a lady, Amber T. Had such an awesome time at the event at Bowery Poetry Club last night. Was great hearing excerpts from the new book (the poem about Amber's Dad was stirring) and so much fun seeing her singing with her Mom. Was also introduced to the phenomenal poetry of Amber's friend, Mindy Nettifee. If you have a chance to see her perform --- TAKE IT. She blew me away!

Bummer the Long Beach Playhouse doesn't have Amber's Performance listed. (IMG:style_emoticons/amtamicons/ohmy.gif) They are probably a little behind. (IMG:style_emoticons/amtamicons/tongue.gif)

I had the opportunity to see Amber perform this evening in Oakland at, " A Great Good Place for Books". I was looking forward to seeing Amber (It's been a long time!), but wasn't sure what to expect at the poetry reading. I've never been to a reading before, and I just didn't know how I would take to it, but I was interested in finding out.
Amber just blew me away! I've often had trouble reading verse, and drawing meaning from it, but to watch Amber perform was powerful. The emotions she put behind the verse and the stories she told of their background, made it much more meaningful to me, than I think I could ever get off the page. If Amber hasn't published an Audiobook (and I know...that probably isn't the politically correct thing to do in the poetry world) she certainly should! Because it was a smaller crowd, Amber was able to take quite a bit of time to interact with her fans, take pictures, and write personalized autographs. I know there were several people there because they were fans of Amber Acting, but I think many were quite impressed with the treat they got in watching Amber perform. If you are an Amber fan (and maybe not necessarily even a poetry fan), I would encourage you to get out and see Amber perform. Check out the tour dates...and check out her latest book! -Shon |

Yes, Amber is amazing. I saw her last Sunday at the West Hollywood Book Fair. Here are two of her poems:
Dear Demographic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guMJQ52Oq7I And Tweet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_SZLPZrZok I told her after the set that I tweeted that she hates Twitter. Amber just laughed. Definitely go see her. I've never been disappointed any of the times I've seen her. And get Bang Ditto! (IMG:style_emoticons/amtamicons/cool.gif) |

Very nice post with a ton of informative information. I really appreciate the fact that you approach these topics from a stand point of knowledge and information
instead of the typical “I think” mentality that you see so much on the internet these days. |
